I have three rifles in 7x57, a Ruger #1A, Winchester Mod. 70 Featherweight and a custom Mauser. Accuracy from the two bolt action rifles is superb and the #1 not far behind. With the proper bullet in my handloads, I would not consider myself poorly armed, with possibly the exception of the great bears, and maybe not even for them under the right circumstances. It's kind of like real estate; Placement! Placement! Placement!
After all, it did make it's reputation in the game fields of Africa with a 173 gr. either full metal jacket or soft nosed bullet at 2250-2300 FPS. The round is a good one as is and an even better one when properly handloaded.
