Can you scope M1's?
I am interested in M1's but my eyes aint what they used to be, and I doubt I could plug a 100 y/m target without the help of a nice 1" 4x or 6x scope.
But having never shot/held/owned/used a Garrand I don't know the details. But from the History channel, I saw the magazine well ejects the 8-round clip (or is it an actual magazine?) But either way I don't see how a scope could be mounted, any feed back? ![]()

Jon, check out these links for a piece of history:
http://www.miltecharms.com/rifles.htm The scope is off-set to the left of the receiver for the clip to clear upon ejection. Take note of the off-set leather cheekpad on the buttstock. It keeps your eye aligned with the scope. I wonder how many Japanese, NK's and NVA/Cong got dropped by that combo? http://auction.odcmp.com/auctions/detail.asp?id=38 If you're interested in an M1-D, there's a gunsmith near me that re-works old Garands and does good work.

S&K Insta Mounts
Jon,
Go to www.scopemounts.com and look at the "no-drill" scope mounts for the M1 Garand. This mount fits where the rear sight base is located. The M1 Garand used an 8-round en bloc clip that is ejected when the last round is chambered. All the best... Gil |
