the right bullet
I plan on doing some bear hunting this year, and I have a Remington 700 30-06,and I load my own shells.I loaded some shells useing 200 grain nosler partition bullets, for elk hunting. The first elk I shot went about 100 feet and stood there wobbling,I shot again and he went down for the count. The second elk I shot was on the run and it went down on the first shot.I would like some advice on what type ,and grain of bullet should I use to bring down a black bear for the count, that would be between 300 and 400 pounds.I all ways aim for the heart.I don't want to have to hunt for a wounded bear in the brush. So if anyone could give me some good advice I would greatly appreciate it.

165-180gr. nosler partitions or other similarly sturdy bullet will work. good luck on those 400lb. bears.

I've had good luck in my 06 with bears using 180 gr. speers. All shots were under 150 yds. Have only seen one black bear that has approached 400 lbs.. Good luck to you!
