bad bear hunt

I just got back from my guided bear hunt. No luck. I saw a small one the first night, late, the last couple of shootin minutes, but nothing else all week. My guide kept me on the same stand, but the bears were hitting it late night, well after shootin hours. I should've used Kevorkian's Guide. There's always next year.

i'm going bear hunting sunday morning, EARLY. hopefully i'll remember to bring a camera this time, lol

Sorry to hear that Handgunner. Sounds like your guide might have turned his bears nocturnal, it happens if you're baiting at the wrong time of day.

The bears are finicky this year, and easily turned, mostly cause of the weather. It's been way to warm for this time of year. We're having a hard time keeping some of our baits active, but our season doesn't end for another month or so so things will most likely look better once the weather cools. Least I hope so cause we've still got tags to fill.

I think part of the problem was the weather. To warm. The guide was baiting at about 9:30 am, and the bait got hit once before I came on the stand at 2 p.m.

M70 good luck on the hunt! I hope you have something with a scope or red dot on it, I wished I did.

9:30am? Wow! That's really early. We've never started baiting before 11am, and that's with a lot of ground to cover. Usually takes us a while to get all the baits done so we time it so we're outa the bush by 3pm. That way your bears are trained for a late afternoon/evening hunt. Head out to the stands about 4:30/5pm and sit until dark, and for the most part the bears start coming in between 6 and 7pm.

M70, I hope you have a great hunt, and connect with a nice bruin.
