well the 3006 has me suprised, and get this i was shocked to set a primer off in rems facotry ammo only to realize it handnt set the powder off, quite an eary feeling. i just kept the rifle pointed down range and slowly opend the bolt. ammo was bought about a year ago. just has me mazed. the rest of the 19 rounds went off without a hitch.
acuracy at 100 is plenty good. pounded my shoulder alittle but i settled down a pulled of some smooth groups

the 220 on the other hand has me amazed. ive found 41.5gr of imr4350 to be very acurate with 55gr vmaxes. i have no idea of velecity but i think its movn.

i punched paper with the load at 100 200 and 300 this evening, shooting at 1" orange dots.

my trajectory isnt following the path i thought it would

hornady says
1" high at 100, 200 zero and 5" low at 300.

im 1" high at 100, still bout an inch high at 200 and 2"s low at 300. with 3" 5 shot group at 300. 100 and 200yds grps were about identical.

my flight path on paper leads me to belive im shooting flatter than the facotry ammo, though 3" group doesnt realy show you exackly how low your shooting at 300.

but i do now know a dead on hold to 300yds with the load. i havetn seen any pressure signs and am thinking about going up to 42grs. this powder has been shooting tigther groups with every .5grs i drop in it. or i could stay right where im at and load a bunch up and be happy. but im about out of 4350 and think ill just load till its gone, ive got enough brass and bullets to get rid of it.

ohhhhhh also took the head of jackrabbit at 200yds, all had was head shot. held dead center of his head and cent his ear flying, literaly.

this 220 is amazeing.

Sounds like a sweet setup.

on your trajectory being different, is it possible that your load data is not taking into consideration the Balco of the vmaxes?

just curious, i know you know what your doing, but thats the first thing that comes to mind.

balco = ballistic coeffecient, or how easily does any one bullet design slide through the air.

a-maxes and v-maxes are known to have very good Balcos, so if the load data your reading is shown for, lets says a 55gr softpoint, if it has a worse Balco, then that "could" explain the difference your seeing between paper and real life trajectories.

a good ballistics program for the computer can show it easily, if your using the tables in the Hornady manual, it may be hard to figure for different bullets.

just remember a brick has a lousy Balco, while dart has a good one, comparatively speaking.

I would sooner guess that he has the center of the scope alittle higher than the chart was figured with. No matter, shounds like it a real keeper and you know where it`s hitting. All I can say is that all of the deer and elk in Idaho better keep their heads down or Evan will have them in his freezer.

no wonder i didnt get it, i dont know what launguage you were speakn but it sure wasnt english???

the trajectoreis i was looking at and compareing my trajectory on paper uses the same 55gr vmax with the same BC.

all i can think is that elevation may play apart of that. tempetures. and everything. or maybe the moons fase when they were testing ammo in there controled enviroment behind closed doors. when compared to me shooting at a 300yds target leaning against a lone sage brush in the desert.

Catfish, it's possible that scope placement iis it, all depends on how picky Evan is being.

the only other thing i can think of, if scope placement is similar on all shots, since Evan says his bullets andd balco is the same, is that he's pushign it alot faster than the load he's comparing it too.

nothing bad, thats a nice flat shooting load, and definately a keeper.

my velocities actualy started out less than the hornadys.

what ive come to think is that its just way difrent than what hornady printed on glossy paper. maybe they would have come up with difrent results if theyd of shot on tuesday.

how many rds did they fire to come up with this. i fired about 10. not near enough if you ask me. ill be doing more long range shooting. picked up some new powder h380 and loaded up the rest of the imr4350 i had wich was all of 22rds.

imr data
50gr bullet
a compressed charge of imr4350 at 43.5grs. mv3740

60gr bulletimr 4350 39.5grs mv 3500

my load
55gr vmax
imr 4350 41.5grs mv guessing somewhre between 3700 and 3500

hornady, trajectory with a 55vmax at about my speed.
