I got these e-mailed to me from a friend. Not sure who the guy is or where it's located, but I thought I'd share.

The pictures are from my backyard. Here is the story that goes with them.
I thought you might be interested in these pictures. We received a call from Range Control at CFB Suffield about two bull elk with locked antlers. By the time we got there, one elk was dead. We guess they had been locked for at least 24 hours. They were caught solid, and obviously there was little chance of the remaining elk freeing himself. After careful consideration, I was able to sneak in and cut an antler off the dead elk with a horn saw. This freed the bigger bull, and he considerately went backwards and ran off across the prairie instead of over top of me, for which I was thankful. This was pretty exiting and made for some neat pictures. Joel Nicholson Joel had some real big ones getting in there like that. |

Those are some really good pictures. I am surprised that bull didn't try to attack. Good job to those who helped get them apart.

amazing Joel. Excellent photos. I have seen whitetails locked up, but never an Elk. I am surprised that the big guy didn't try to finish you off as well. Great job cutting him loose!!
