Mitchell's Mausers

I have seen the various advertisements for these Yugoslav rifles that are incorrectly called Model '98s and they appear to be vastly overpriced. At a local gun shop today I saw a Mitchell Mauser Model 48A with all the accessories that had been ordered and run through the shop. The new owner never fired the rifle and brought it back and sold it to the gun shop. The shop owner asked if I had a an interest in it and I told him they were much too expensive. He offered it to me for $100 less than the advertised price so it was put on layaway. That is a more reasonable price. All the best...

No offense, but they are a rip off. You can buy the same rifle in mint condition from SOG for about $150.

Mitchell's also is wrong as advertising the Yugo M48 as a K98 rifle. The K98 is similiar but the bolts are not compatible with a M48.

Right you are, Itcboy

I passed on the Mitchell Mauser even at the discounted price. I have bought mint Yugoslav Model 48 and 48A rifles for as low as $125.00. You are correct, the Model 48 and 48A rifles are not Kar98ks, but Mauser clones. The parts are different.

Regarding SOG, the gun shops I deal with no longer buy from them. I have several of their surplus rifles. In every case they overstated the condition of the rifles. Rifles that were advertised as NRA excellent came through as NRA good to very good. I got to the point of ordering three or four rifles and picking the best of the lot. I now deal with a local surplus arms dealer who has the rifles on hand and then offers discounts.

Welcome to the Forum! All the best...

No see, I have had the exact same experience with Inter-Ordnance. Go figure. I like AIM, they are very fair and decent.

I agree with AIM

Several of my unissued Yugoslav 24/47s came from AIM and I was thrilled. Then I read a post on another site where a fellow was unhappy with AIM. He said his experience was dismal while mine was great. It may be the luck of the draw. All the best...
