The addition of a 45acp would be hands down better than that pos M9!
I as a loader in a M1A1 would not ever figure to have to be involved in close-quarters combat but March of 2003 had tankers,wrenches and truck-drivers dealing with irregular troops that were firing through the sandstorm that had us stop to rearm and refuel.
While getting back on my tank I was firing on troops with my M4,two-three hits center-mass and they would move away hurt but still firing.
A RPG hit the turrant knocking me off the rear-deck(engine)were upon I landed on my M4,breaking it in half,leaving it inoperable.
I pulled the M9 from the chest holster and shot a fedhydeen at 30feet four times before he dropped and fired at two more as they rounded the berm.I got lucky and head shot the first but as I shot and closed on the second he wasn't going down.I grabbed a E-tool that was near the corner of the 88 and used it in my right hand and the M9 in my left.
I saw more men falling in behind the next troop so two wrenches and I got a MK19 back in order and we closed the hole in our lines.
M4=POS
M9=POS
E-Tool= Thank God
M2HB=Nothing finer!
M240=Just needed more ammo.
120mm=Too bad we had no canister rounds!
I got a Army Commendation Medal with a Bronze-V and a Purple Heart for that engagement.
