Anyone know about 2006 Leupold Optics?

I received an email from Leupold today which says that everything I know about scopes will be "Eclipsed" in 2006. Anyone know details? Can't locate anything on their website about it. There is a flash teaser on their website saying the same thing: http://www.leupold.com/eclipseteaser.htm but it doesn't tell you anything else
thanks

Leupold 06

I have seen a couple of new scopes..Last week in fact. One was a VXIII 4.5X14 in gunmetal color..Actually a very nice looking scope. Saw another that was different also. I really don't know what the material it was made of...but I am pretty certain it wasn't metal. Maybe a composite, carbon fiber or something. Nice looking scopes though...and the one was very light. Price was pretty high also..at least wholesale. Over 400 ..oh and as most Leupolds are..they were very clear. Both were one inch scopes btw.

nothing new is out yet or been eclipsed.

the gunmetal is from leupolds custom shop and has been avaialbe for awhile now.

one thing ive been eyeing are the screw in flip up scope covers. looks like great way to run even lower rings than i am now. as of now i can go anylower because of the butler creek covers.

everything weve seen new from leupold is 2005 stuff.

word is....

Word is, that the 50mm scopes will have a "divot" in the bottom so that you can mount them lower to the barrel. Thus the "eclipse". I guess it's a good idea, and props to them for being brave and going out on a limb. The divot will not look any different when looking through the scope. May be interesting to see how well they seal it. Might be a little more expensive to cut the glass in this shape as well. Not a bad idea, but might not be the amazing innovation that people were hoping for.......

Now I know how a generation of loyal Ford Motor Company customers must have felt almost 50 years ago when they saw the first Edsel.

i dunno

look at the rivots or screws holding the lense in. also look at the gold ring, no edge and no shine like leupolds. the scope knobs also look difrent.

then i dont think the adjustable power knob looks right either.

but then everything i speak of has been eclisped so who knows.

The screws to hold the lens in, I could understand as not being round, threaded rings could not be used. If you look closely, on the gold ring you can see the suggestion of lettering. I would expect a prototype to look perhaps somewhat funny anyway.

Can anyone identify the one piece Ring/Bases, they don't look like Leupolds tacticals? Would they be testing a scope without using their mounts???? No more input from the member posting it yet??

Sure looks like the new Browning Mounts, top photo. (couldn't get the two photos apart).
