If you've never trapped before it might be a little tricky trying to catch bobcats, but not impossible. What kind of traps and lures/baits are you using?
I've never tried to catch 'cats but i hear they're not to trap shy, but they have big ranges. Depending on the cat population it may take a week or so before it will come back to your set. But like i said, i don't know much about them. I've trapped raccoons, oppossums, fox, and rabbits (just recently fox). I use 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 coilsprings mostly and use lures from a trappers supply. |

Hi .....I have trapped bobcat and lynx. Cubbie sets are best. I like to use a 330 in a pre-built cubbie. Put some beaver meat or what have you in the back and actually a can of sardines has worked well in the past. Hang an old dried duck wing or an aluminum pie plate froma branch above the set. It will flutter in the wind and attract their attention.
As mentioned by T_S88 they have fairly big ranges and it can take some time for them to make the 'loop'. I shot a big male lynx 2 winters ago by watching closely and noting the day his tracks showed up going through a ravine on my ranch. I then patterned his route and sat out one morning and nailed him with my .222. |
