Whitetail Kevorkian Junior

Hey like to introduce you all to my buddy, Whitetail Kevorkian Junior, by the way this is his first deer season. So far he has taken a doe, an 8 point, and a 9 point.

He's not my son, he's the son of my taxidermist in Greencastle and a good friend. I showed him this website last night, I'm sure he will be registering on here soon. He has had a great first season.

Glad to see that you are actually taking a kid out hunting, especially since I know the taxidermist and he seems to be a great guy.

I cannot wait until I have the opportunity to take a kid out myself. Just don't have any kids interested around me and there are no kids in the family yet.

How did the taxidermist do this year? Did he get out and hunt with you guys?

He has been out with me a few times and taken a couple of deer, but mainly he wanted his son to have a good season so he has concentrated on hunting with him. We have all enjoyed it, especially me, I think I was more excited than the kid.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I took a kid out fishing several years ago and it was his first time. I set him up for the small stuff (i.e., spot) and put a double hook on the line for him. Wouldn't you know it, he caught a double on the first cast. He was 5 years old and super happy about it. I didn't even get my line wet the entire day and still thought the day was great. It kind of made me understand, when I first started pheasant hunting, why my dad barely ever shot at them when they flushed. He would always let me have the first shot unless they were completely away from me. It takes some growing up to understand a lot of things.

The other day, I watched my dog do a triple retrieve on geese, and that was enough to call the day a success for me, even though he screwed the rest of the day up on several occassions. I'll be working on his screw ups Thursday morning with him.

I also get great satisfaction out of taking new shooters clay shooting and helping them break some birds. We had a new woman shooter with us the last time I shot clays and she broke a 7 out of 50. At first, she was completely scared of the gun and wouldn't even put her cheek on the stock. By the end of the day, she was almost holding the gun properly and she was interested in coming out again.

If you see the "taxidermist" any time soon, let him know that I will be hunting deer a lot harder next season and looking for another "small" one for him to mount for me. I just don't have enough room in my place for any of the big ones that you guys shoot. LOL

Here is a pic of the kid and the fish.
