Are those silhouttes (sp), and if so, who makes them because they look really good? I am going to get some canada geese silhouttes this spring, but I just don't know which ones to get.

Ya know, fabs..they sort of do look 2 dimensional because of the flashbulb effect but actually they are full body Specs by Hardcore. In person you would expect there eyes to blink. There's only one deke that would be more realistic and that's a Dave Smith deke. DSD's are a 10 on the scale and I'd give these a 9.

I was looking into getting some Hardcore decoys because I have seen them advertized on a couple of hunting shows. Glad you like them and I will look into them a little more.

yes i know, the pain of a season ending can only be reduced with a few nice purchases. hey they seem to have the same wobble base design as the green head gear dekes. if i recall it took a fairly stiff wind to get them to wobble. nice dekes

Holy cow, I just checked out Hardcore Decoys website and I am having a heart attack. Not because the decoys are $130 for 4, but because they recommend that they be treated gently. They recommend that the canada goose flocked head decoys be put into individual decoy bags for storage and travel to prevent the flocking and paint from chipping off. I know they look good, but are they really worth all that trouble?
Regarding flocked heads, how hard is it to keep them clean since I tend to hunt in muddy fields? Can flocked heads be cleaned off with soap and water?

Are they worth it? I'd say yeah....when you have trouble discerning the real birds from the decoys I think it removes all doubt the birds will drop right into them!
Canada's do require a bit more delicate handling because of that flocking but I think that can said about any of the flocked dekes nowadays. These Specs I got have individual bags and will get locked into my blind at the end of every day they are used. I have them to put around my blind along with a dozen or so full body GHG Mallards and Pins that I will buy very soon. I've hunted over spreads like this and when you have something that realistic on the rice check when those birds are making those passes or that final pass, again it sort of removes all doubt.

a friend who has about 30 flocked canadas always says, feel free to borrow them. you see the thing is he transports and stores them all in their own individual plastic bags, at the end of the day the last thing i feel like doing is cleaning up in that fashion. i will say though in his method of care, 3 years of hard hunting and they all look pretty near new kt

Do you guys really think the flocking on the canada heads makes that big a difference? People were killing plenty of geese before flocked heads. Can a goose really tell the difference, or is it that people can only tell the difference?

im definately with fabs here, although i have the gear for a big field set up could do about 300 birds if i felt it necassary, as long as 20 spray painted sillouettes get my limit from a scrubby patch in the corn thats where i'm at. some call me lazy. should it not work, due to pressure or whatever the next day i will bring out the fancy stuff. i dont think it can ever hurt to pay attention to the such detail, necassary or not . those dekes you have look great, im just jealous i dont get to even see the species!

Maybe you are right. I'll use the lazy man decoys (i.e., shells and silhouettes) as long as I am killing birds, and switch to the Hardcore Decoys when the birds get tough. The wife should love the fact that I am going to spend several thousands of dollars on decoys since I just told her I want to spend $3,000 on an AR-10 and AR-15 purchase before they are outlawed in my state.

I got a dozen fully flocked and I dont think they are worth it. The instructions with them said to keep them in separate bags and warned mud would not come off. I too , have some hand painted silouettes and some die cut ones. They seem to do the job and I dont know if it matters but the die cut ones really look good. Kinda like my scoter dekes, they look good but a clorox bottle seems to be as effective.
