Up in our neck of the woods they are building plants to produce 'bio-diesel', which is along the same lines as vegetable oil. The government is even reducing the provincial tax rate on it to encourage people to use it.

Mark, I tried to make a connection with the diesel and fishing myself at first but I like the fry oil thing..fish oil?..Diesels also run on their own oil from a blow turbo as I found out..only way to turn it off was pinch the oil line...I have to say for towing, diesel beats hands down..gas motors just won't hold up to heavy loads..now our problem lies not only with the cost of oil pr gallon to make gasoline but it is the standards set by EPA to burn the gallon of gasoline soon diesel fuel. The biggest cost at the pump (research has been done) is the taxes applied by the federal gov, state gov, local taxes...is the taxes..1/3 the cost at the pump is taxes...so how about a little break there mr government?.Our gov makes us believe it is the arab countries causing this..well what about american kwik fill?..they use american drilled oil..same cost...I posted a breakdown in the past the price pr gallon of gasoline/diesel at the pump and what it cost to buy oil, refine it, ship it to stations etc etc..if I can find it again, I will note where that is...here is the problem I have now...my dodge truck with the 318 motor will just not run on the 87 oct. fuel...valves ping, no power and the fuel mileage sucks...I have to use at least 89 oct and if use the 93...fuel guage just don't move..+MPG..but the cost at the pump for this kills the checkbook...now the cost at the pump comes from all the different standards set by each state..so the refineries have to manufacture at different times different fuels.for different state regs.less fuels...more demand + costs...we need to set regs over the board..and I don't mean california standards..my pa vehicles just don't work on california standards..climate....I have owned small economy cars to travel in but the loss of room etc just won't add up..some just need the larger suv/truck...I can't keep my toolbox in the back of a hybrid car...now the 50+mpg in a metro was great..(sis had one of those) but when tripping with 4 people + gear?...no way..even my weedwhacker knows the 87oct fuel isn't 87 oct...it just won't burn and I bet the guy at the nudist resort didn't pour 87 oct fuel when he lit it...it won't burn....the cost of diesel is so much now because look how much trukers use..just a way to fatten the pockets of oil tycoons....it does not take as much to refine diesel fuel as gasoline...price inflation at its worst...buy what you want and what you need vehicle wise. My next truck is going to be diesel for sure....except as a retired trucker...the smell of diesel smoke can make me puke....not want to fish....but I see the solution to that too....lol.....oh ...a note...smelling diesel fumes can put air bubbles in your blood...food for thought....
