Yes, a 110 will kill a skunk, if it's a good 110 with strong springs. Living in CA, I would guess you're probably restricted to the size of bodygrip trap you're allowed to set in a bucket. You might want to check into that, as a 110 or 120 maybe the largest legal to use.

A 5 gallon bucket is too large to use a 110 with. Use either the newspaper holders you see in rural areas, or make one out of wood to accomodate the 110.

The 110 is a harder trap to stabilize in a box set than the two-springed 120. But, you can do it by bending the single spring up in the box's notch. Then, drill a hole through the top and bottom of the box. Slip a rod through the holes and through the inside edge of the trap.
