I must say, "I stand corrected". A few months ago I saw a #3 mk1 "Jungle Carbine" at a show in Gillette WY. I told the seller it was a fake and showed him why. He was a 22 yr old C&R dealer and a self professed "expert" in military firearms. He vouched for it's "authenticity" because of his "expertice" in the military firearms field. After asking a few questions about military firearms, their uses and history I conclude my 1st impression of him being an idiot was correct. He didn't know Sgt A. York used a P-17 Enfield 30 Govt to kill/capture all those Germans in WW1, not an 03 Spfld.

I had an Eddystone P-14 sporter in .303 Brit with the ears still on, which I'd bought off a kid after he walked in, the C&R dude couldn't ID it !!! The problem with idiots like that is they tend to convince other dunces with their BS. Yes I know it's possible a Brit armorer in the rear could have done the conversion, but it's highly unlikly and even if so, it's a curio not authentic and unverifiable.

correct me if iam wrong but i thought the jungle carbine was a no 5 ,that is a no 4 reworked and not a
no 3 #1 ,no 4's are much stronger diferant bolt, numbered bolt heads for easy head space mods and rebarreling still a rear locking action though. basicly a whole new rifle. over here in stralia a company called aia in brisbane is making a mk 10 in 308 win & 7.62x39 in a carbine & rifle ,lee enfields are much loved over here our snipers only stopped using them in the 1980's from 1888 the lee metfords to the no3#1 that were used in ww1,ww2 & korea i think pakistan & india still use em. k see ya that my 2 bobs worth.
