Which round is best for the 7mm-08?
I just got a 7mm-08 barrel for my T/C Encore and was wanting to know what is the best round to use? i've been shooting a .270 and just wanted something different.

I'm going to assume that by round you mean which factory load would be best for you. Depending of course on what you plan to do with the gun, nearly any factory ammo will be suitable for deer-sized game(other than light frangible bullets). Find out which ammo your rifle likes best, and that should suffice for your specific needs. If you're hunting deer exclusively with this gun, standard factory ammo should suffice. You could chose either a nosler ballistic tip or a partition or failsafe, but standard bullets should do the trick with no fuss. JMHO

Realistically, the 7-08 isn't that much different from a .270. They both shoot bullets of similar diameter, similar weights and not very different speeds.
There's no need for premium bullets in that cartridge (no harm, but no real need) for whitetail deer. Save the money and buy an extra box of ammo with regular bullets. If I recall correctly, you can get 120 or 140-grain bullets in factory ammo, and either is suitable for deer. I'd lean to the 140 to get a bit more penetration from any angle, but the 120 would do for most hunting situations.

7/08
I shoot Hornadys, specifically/mostly the 139gr BT in my 7mm Rem Mag & my 7/08.
I've kilt everything from rabbits for the camp pot to Bull elk with it. Works like a charm Hnter

Obviously the best "round" to use in your 7-08 is a 7-08 one trying to cram a .280 in won't work. Now the best Bullet to use or best load is entirely another matter .
Bullet choice depends on usage and quarry if hunting. Load i.e. powder and primer will depend on barrel length and bullet weight same as any other gun.

140gr nosler partition and 140gr nosler accubond are a couple good choices for deer and elk.
