BlktaIl "Everybody is looking for a deal."

The farmers her in Michigan have a great deal on labor. They say that they hire the migrants because they locals will not do the job.The farmers pay minimum wage.

Heck NO. The locals can't afford to work for the wages that the migrants are willing to work for. The locals have to pay rent, utilities, day are for the kids for food and much more.

The migrants are given this by the govenemnt so there is another subsidy the farmers get that the tax payers are paying for.

If you think the migrants are hurting just come on over here and look at all the fancy pickups and suvs that are parked at the migrant camps. All this on minimum wage.

There is an easy solution to that, stop subsidizing this crap. Anyone with a rental unit needs to ask for a green card and a criminal history...neither one of those that are denied is in violation of a fair housing law.....

Val,

Getting anything done is nigh on to impossible. Alot of the housing is housing provided by the farmers that was built with govenment asssistance.

I don't see much of anything done this year in Congress about tightening the border or the illegals.

None of our illustrious officials in Washington age going to do anything. Don't forget this is an election year. They don't want to chance loosing votes that might jeopardize their being reelected.

Their presence will certainly not hurt anything, and I am grateful for their service. However, it was nothing more than a token gesture. Please do not be fooled by it. Any reduction in apprehensions in the areas where they have been deployed (at least at the current levels of deployment and in their current capacity) will be temporary at best.

I have no direct knowledge of the matter described by 8X56MS, so I cannot say with authority, but I can assure you there are labor contractors (mostly legal aliens and naturalized citizens) who do PRECISELY what he described. They not only supply laborers for builders, but for many other businesses as well. The scenario described is not at all implausible.

I guess that is true. It would be like a temp agency for illegal immigrants. Need cheap labor, we can provide it. You pay the temp agency a certain dollar amount per hour, and the temp agency pays the worker.

I find this whole story rather stupid actually. They claim the reason for the need is safety and the ability to call out commands quickly?

Ok, I'm not a firefighter and even if I was one I wouldn't be a Wildfire firefighter because of where I live. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you think that a man in a fireman's jump suit would be hard to recognize if he's Bob or Jose'? I mean, I think it would take the big boss man longer to figure out who it is and what language to spew out than just yelling, "Hey Bob watch out". Unless they are color coating these guys how hard is it for them to determine who's english speaking and who isn't among all the smoke and excitement? I would think that's a bigger saftey issue than what they are trying to sell.

Require THEM to speak English and there isn't a problem. What a joke our country has become. It's time the people take over what the stupid Government and States have screw up. We've sent crews from each of our local fire dept's out west about every year to help out. If everyone else does the same why do we even need the cheap labor? Heck our guys are voluntary,a nd they do it for free as far as I know....what little I do that is

Yesterday I caught part of the best Western movie made in the last 10 years. Open Range.

One of the hired hands was a young spanish speaking fellow. Something went wrong and he started a blue streak in Spanish, Robert Duvall rebuted him with one word "ENGLISH!" as he walked off.

He had the answer to this problem 125 years ago.

I concur. The first installment was excellent.
(On AMC, check local listings for time and channel.)
