July 4th, 1944, 62 years ago

Each 4th of July, I think of my uncle, who 62 years ago this 4th of July 2006 was wounded in France, Normanday, and died from his wounds on the 7th July, 3 days later. His name was John Whetzel, Sgt. with the 101st Airborne Div. 401st Glider Infantry Reg.
I've tried for years to find out how he was wounded and where he was in combat, when it happen.
I got information that there was a fire and alot of records were destroyed, with the Military records Div. right now I've given up hope of ever learning what, when, where, & how and with 1,000 to 1,500 World War II Vets dying every day, any Vet having personal knowledge of what happen remaining alive is one in a million.

Larry, there is a publication I get to read of my father-in-laws called ' The Bulge Bugle'...... if you search it on the web you can find it and I'm sure can have it delivered to you......It is full of stories of WWII vets from various outfits and their stories... They also search for lost people that they served with.....Check it out...it is one of the best reading I have ever came upon....maybe you can find out more information through this. Good Luck and I think any vet would be interested in reading this.
