Got the good news last night!

I'm going to be a Grandpa before I'm 60!

Only a month before, but close counts, right? My younger daughter and her husband kept the secret until they could tell us in person. But the minute I saw her, I knew. There's just some indefinable glow about a Mommy-to-be. She has it.

That's all we know for now, but we had fun ruling out dumb names last night. My wife and I can't stop grinning this morning.

Grampa. Ain't it beautiful?

Thumbs up Congratulations!!!

It is great watching the grand kids grow up.

I had the pleasure of calling in my 12 year old grandsons first turkey this spring. He shot it with the 20 ga I bought for him when he was 4 months old.

Congratulations Rocky.

My parents and my wife's parents are waiting for her and me to give them their first grandkid. Only time will tell. My dad is hoping that he gets a grandchild before he turns 65 and he just turned 64.

i like the old saying "if i know'd grandkids were sooo much fun i'd a had them first".

kinda true in a way.

one thing always amazes me as i age, and boy am i aging.

i take a look around me and the state of the world and human nature in general and think "theres no way i would start a family under these conditions".

and then i ponder, gee, " i wonder if my grandparents thought the same thing. " about me.

thank god for the young folks. they keep the ball rolling.

reminds me of a story:

i was in a supermarket a few years ago right before christmas. heres a young mom with about a 2 1/2 or 3 year old. the kid is being a pita cause it's tired, hungry, and bored with life in general. moms all stressed out and about ready to have her pressure relief valve blow into the next zip code.

i'm in the aisle doing my thing, i'm an old guy with a white beard and the kid looks at me, and i smiled. i said a few words to mom as i passed by. i get over to the next aisle and the kid is really upset now, so i said a few more words to mom and i cupped my hand, bent down and whispered in the kids ear.

the kid quiets down and was a model of behavior after that. so i meet the mom in the next aisle, she looked totally relieived, and about 20 years younger, and she asked me what i said to the youngin'.

so i whispered in her ear, "santa claus is watching you." she got the most beautiful smile on her face and i thought she was gonna kiss me. and i ain't real purtty.

any way i guess the best answer to some of the most complex problems is a simple thought.

i had a lot of people help me through the years and i was glad to help someone else out.

Welcome to the club Rocky. I have ten grandkids now. Four of them just live up the road from you in Logan. One of them is the youngest and my oldest is just turning 16. My how the time flies.

Billy. I too am a fat old boy with a pretty fair beard. When it gets too long, so my wife says, I have to trim it. However, when it is long, you probably know what it's like when a perfectly strange kids says, "Look mom! It's santa Claus." Ain't it cool?

Congrats guy, isnt that great? I am still waiting for mine...thats what keeps me motivated to clean up the neighborhood...my son did whisper to me a couple of weeks ago that he was going to ask Becky to marry him....he definitely has my blessing with her...I notice myself dropping hints to them more and more...I didnt think I would be looking forward to being a grand ma, but now I can hardly wait....good for you....

Congradulations Grandpa & Grandma Raab

You will spoil your grandchildren, there's no "if's, and's or but's" about it. You will do "crazy" things only grandparents do !
This September will be two years since I became Grandpa and let me tell you, it adds "spring" to your step even though my grandchild is a girl, I nicknamed her "Termite" because she eats away at my heart. We almost lost her three times, during the first year, at birth, then a vehicle accident, and then illness. I once said she had been through more things in her 1st year, than most people have during their entire adult life. Yes, I love her so very much, and I hope yours will arrive safe and healthy. Even though "Termite" is a girl, I'm getting her lifetime hunting and fishing license for her second bithday.

Again, CONGRADULATIONS
