Skunk Problems

A guy I work with called me this morning with a problem. He lives in a small town and the county he lives in does have animal control and will come out on the occasional dog complaint, but that is about it.

My friend problem is skunks under his trailer. I guess he trapped one the other night and did shoot it. He isn’t home much, so trapping is pretty much out of the question. And shooting in town is going to get him in trouble. I told him I didn’t know what he should do. I guess he sees them out sometimes during the day occasionally.

One of the farm supply places suggested putting cayan pepper under his trailer, so he bought a bunch of that but so far doesn’t think it is helping. Does anybody have any ideas to encourage the skunks to find a new home? He said to thank anyone that offers an idea for their help.

So he shot a skunk in a trap under his trailer?

Well I guess he doesn't have to worry about skunk smell then. He already has it.

I would suggest using 220 conibear traps.
keep them under the trailer and staked down.
If the neighbors dog gets into them well the pooch shouldn't have been there anyway.
Then enclose the area under the trailer and make it critter proof.

I personally would notify my neighbors of the problem and let them know if I don't get rid of them they will soon be making their home under their trailer.

Hello tool...

Its a shame when the county wont send animal control to do there job...

Have your friend call the county and tell them, that he has a skunk that is acting very strange for a typical skunk. When he went out to take the garbage out ,this skunk started charging him, exhibiting no fear of humans. Same thing occurred the other night when he went out to the ________ a skunk charged out from the steps trying to bite him...

This will get their attention, and they will come and trap it / them for examination. He needs to be vague on description when they try and determine which skunk is doing this.

Skunks are known for rabies.

After they come then he needs to get busy putting up skunk proof skirting around his trailer.

Peace
Talon

Tell him to put some coyote urine around the trailer, that should scare them away.
