Charger Clips

While hanging around a favorite gun shop yesterday I came across a box of various charger clips. I asked the shop owner what they cost. He told me to take as many as I wanted for nothing. I asked if he had a paper bag and promptly filled it. I really like that gun shop. All the best...

Gil,

So what did you get in the way of chargers? Did you get any Swiss M1911 chargers? I wash all chargers off in hot soapy water to remove any corrosive residue and air dry them in the sun on my porch.

Bring any excess chargers to my home when you visit. I will pay you what you paid. LOL.

It depends

If the chargers appear to be clean and are not rusted or pitted, them I merely apply a light film of oil. Very few corrosive rounds were ever fired from a charger clip (LOL). I got all kinds of chargers and have not yet sorted them out. All the best...

Gil,

Yep, you are correct about few corrosive rounds being fired from charger clips. I have seen many pitted bolt faces because corrosive residue got onto the bolt face and was not properly cleaned.

Direct inpingement gas guns like the Hakim blast corrosive residue into the action where charger clips can be contaminated. Further, the gun operator may have handled chargers after cleaning a corrosive bore. Some folks prefer to remove any corrosive residue and be done with it.
