any game farm owners on here in southern africa?
hi,
i just registered on this site recently and dont see too much traffic in here, but here goes. im looking for gamefarm owners in the southern africa area ( RSA, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe etc) who would be interested in supplying me with hunting concessions or packages for upcoming hunting seasons. willing to negotiate etc. basically im just testing the waters to see if another safari/ ph/ hunting type business will be worth the effort before i commit and do all the training etc. if any PH's are reading this - if you dont mind - can you recommend a good training school for PH in RSA? i have shortlisted 2 but i would welcome any advice. thnxs |

Game Farm Owner? No! Full Authority to Arrange Hunting? Yes. At a few large and quite
Ndlovu,
I think the Post Subjet line sums it up nicely? You want to test the waters on marketing/becomming involved in the hunting safari business in southern Africa? I do not proclaim to know enough about Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana - the other major southern African hunting destinations, to speak about them. But, having been a registered Professional Hunter and Hunting Outfitter for just about a quarter of a century in South Africa, I think I'm reasonably qualified to speak about those aspects here. There are a number of reasons why you should be very careful before you associate yourself with any particular person in South Africa: Here, as elsewhere in the world, we have our sharks and snkoil salesmen! Trouble is, unless you know a lot about snake oil quality, quantities and markets, you will be very easily taken for the proverbial ride by a snake oil salesman. Maybe I did not express myself well by warning that you should know a bit about snake oil: It may come over as implying that you yourself should be a bit of a shyster? Not intended so at all. What I'm trying to say is: You probably know very little about the game, game ranching, marketing hunting opportunities to hunters outside South Africa etc. You could be led nicely up the path by a clever farmer or PH if you do not know much about the basic that you're dealing with. I, for one, would be most interested in discussing any form of across-the-ocean co-operation with any serious person. Please send my an email message to andrew@mclarensafaris.com . We can talk some. In good hunting. Andrew McLaren |
