Welcome aboard

Joker14,
Wyoming has a ton of public land, BLM, National Forest, National Grassland and stateland that is huntable. Are you a resident or looking to travel there?

I don't remember what the percentage is, but I would guess about 40 per cent of the state is public domain. Get yourself a current BLM land map and you're in business. I'm not sure where area "M" is, because I don't get a non-resident booklet, but just about anywhere in the northern and western part of the state there is public land somewhere that is good for hunting. Good luck.

Wyoming hunting

Wyoming is 50% + public land. Accessing that public acerage is the problem.
A person able to walkin or who has horses/pack animals has the advantage over thase unable to access in those modes. The deer/elk/Antelope draws for non-residents will be soon and unless ya have already entered your outta luck. There will be some tags left over in the harder to access areas such as those with mostly private or lots of landlocked public lands.
I'm well aquainted with the east central Wyoming deer country such as the Douglas, Gillette, Newcastle, Sundance WY areas and would be willing to attempt to lend a helping hand should you want.

hnter im after the muley bucks, we hunted them last year around the big horns but didnt see a lot of deer, shot a nice 5X5 and that was about it, im willing to walk long distances and its not uncommon for me to walk ten miles a day after those deer. im looking for some spots preferrably in region m or else where for another year that holds some good deer populations on state land that doesnt have a lot of pressure for people willing to work. any suggestions

huntin land

I know very little about the Tensleep-Worland area other than the access is being eaten up by hi dollar buyers there.

The problem with the accessable public lands is the heavy amount of hunting pressure they receive from both resident and non-resident hunters who won't or can't pay the trespass fees to cross over or hunt private lands. Most ranchers/land owners within Wyoming are taking the Texas lead and outfitting their own land (includind the public leased lands) or hiring commercial outfitters to handle the hunters.

Generally, the harder the access the less walk- in hunting is done.

Look on topo maps to find deep canyons, gorges, high plateaus, badlands and rough country and you'll find lonely deer.
Do you have your apps in yet?
It's always best to have an area in mind/reconned prior to applying.

BTW, the biggest deer in wyoming are found around Alpine, WY in the rough grounds.
