New Savage VLP chamberings coming out in 07
Just got off the phone with Savage and was told the Model 12 Varminter Low Profile will be chambered in 243Win and 308Win in 2007.
I'll have to hold onto my Cabela's points till then and try to sell off my VLS in 308Win. That 243 maybe my first Savage if it has a 1in9 twist to it for heavy bullets. Here is a link to the current chamberings: http://www.savagearms.com/12Varminter.htm The VLP is the first Savage that actually feels good when I hold it (well any gun feels good when I hold it ) and almost got it in 22-250 instead of my new VSSF II. The accu-trigger is incredible.

Nice to see Savage doing so well. They seem to listen to the users. Probably why their company seems to be doing so well.
They still won't make 6 MM though, so I had to rebuild an old enfield to a 6MM. If Savage would build one I would buy one in a heart beat. Even though some pooh pooh Savage's accutrigger, I find them to work very well on my Savages. In general, everyone that I know that has a new Savage really like them. Mine will be busy again tomorrow taking out a few prairie dogs.--tr

And they shoot like a house on fire. Iv'e shot the barrels out of 3 of them and rebarreled them with Shilens and all 3 will print .5" groups with there prefered loads.
They can have my savages when they pry them from my cold dead hands. I love them. Best Wishes, Bill |

Skinny Shooter, thanks for posting the site. In fact I've have not seen this one. I think I'll keep my eyes open and try to pick up a good used Savage action. Sure looks like a good platform to build a rifle on. Hopefully Savage will keep their simplistic design.
I did get to try out my new Enfield 6MM on New years day. Took my grandson out and called in a nice dog first 15 minutes. Managed to take him. It was a great way to start out the new year. Sure do like the 6 MM's.--tr
