Cost of my Flintlock Turkey Load
Over on a Turkey Forum I've noticd posts about the cost of modern high performance Turkey loads (shells) costing $6.00 each...got me thinking about what it costs for the blackpowder turkey load I use and did the math as follows:
Black powder main charge of 80grns Goex 3F = .13 cents (@ $11.00/lb) Black powder priming charge of 3grns Goex 4F = one half cent (@ $11.00/lb) Cost of Flint per shot = .01 cent (@ .75 cents/flint) Wads: 2 @ .06 cents = .12 cents (@ $6.00/100) Shot: 1+5/8oz #6 shot = .08 cents (@ $20.00/25lb bag) Overshot card = .01 cent (@ $10.00/1000) So I spent .72 cents for this turkey season's two shots...good economy, eh

Unless it's suddenly spiked in the last month of so, that was our price in January or February...
