Talking One week til rifle season!

Yeah! Only one week left til the rifle season opens! I am so excited! I do have to work in the mornings, but I was able to talk a replacement into coming a couple hours early so I should be able to get into the woods by 2 pm! Ive got babysitters lined up for the entire time, a few days off during the week, my gun is ready, ammo is ready...this is gonna be my year! I can feel it...LOL! Any other Minnesota hunters too excited to sleep out there?!?

Welcome to huntchat. Always good to hear from other parts of the country.
We still have about three (3) weeks before gun season and there is an indication of blue tongue in the herd here in Kentucky, however,I share your enthusiasm.
Going to range tomorrow to zero in rifles!

Thanks... I am rifle hunting next week, but I do plan to bow hunt after that. I just got a new bow this season, and havent used it much... just a few last minute practice shots then Ill take it out again. But I thought it would be best to wait a while and let the deer settle down a bit after rifle season. They get hunted pretty hard out here. At least thats my best guess anyway. I am new to hunting in general. I have shot two deer to date. I got my second a couple of weeks ago during an early antlerless season. So I do have a lot of learning to do.

the timing should be just right for northern minnesota. The bucks are starting to chase does right now in northern Wisconsin (i imagine it to be the same in MN)

Sulli,

You are new to hunting, and that is why you are so excited about it. I used to get really excited about it when it was still new to me, but after hunting for 30 years, it is more of a chance just to have a good time with family and friends and to do something I love. I get more excited when I bring new friends along or little kids. That is when I really have my heart pounding nowadays hoping that the birds will come into the decoys or the deer will step out from the brush. If it is just me, my dad, and my dog hunting, I don't get too excited about the hunt.

It is kind of like bike racing to me. When I first started, I used to be really nervous at the start line. Nowadays, I line up and just race.

Good luck with rifle season. Me, I don't even know if I will be hunting deer this year, but who knows.
