spotting scope opinions
I have a big Kowa spotter with 82mm objective and beautifully clear optics -- but it is far too big and heavy to carry in my hunting pack.
I'm looking for a light-to-medium weight spotting scope that can be used in the field and also be used at the shooting range. Several manufacturers offer variables with a 15X-45X range and that should be find. I once owned a B&L Discoverer with 60X at the top end but found it useless above about 45X (the image was too fuzzy), even on cool days. What are your preferences/opinions on a spotting scope to meet my needs? 270man |

I will highly recomand that you check out the Leupold 15 x 30 x telescope. Very small for what it is, has a great field of view, very good in low light and excellant glass. I carry one in my pick-up on a window mount at all times, unless it`s in my pocket in the field.

Check out the Minox MD 50 W, @ minox.com, nice & compact. Weight, approx: 21.69 oz / 615 g
Good glass, I've got the MD 62, clear glass with great focus capability, but that MD 50 is smaller and lighter for on the go or taking in a ruck. I have no complaints whatsoever on Minox, Waidmannsheil, Dom. |
