Saw my first coyote this year.

Was comming home from town yesterday after lunch when I saw a coyote booking it acrossed a chisel plowed field. Look like something had jumped him as he was going alot faster than theor normal travel speed. He was about 350 yrds from the road and I had the rifle to make that shot in the back seat but no time to get it out. Oh well, maybe we`ll meet again.

You must be a good marksman and you must have quite a "Truck Rifle" if you can paste a running coyote at 350yds! I hope your paths do cross again.

I sure am, but I won`t tell about the 1 I missed Sunday starting abt. 100 yrds. I only missed him 10 times. The problem was I had to watch out for the dogs. With alittle time I can come up with a bunch more excuses.

I did the same thing during deer season. I kept running into coyotes instead of deer. Once I was set up on top of a hill, I had my bipod extended and my dad was going to push the deer out of a bush towards me. The only thing he pushed towards me was a stupid coyote. I shot 3 or 4 times and missed each time. He came in from 180yds to 50yds! He did the same thing one day before and had nearly got his head blown off by friend's 7mm STW. I had seen the coyote three days before as I was walking through a bush. He jumped out of bush 20yds in front of me and disappeared before I got my gun up. He made no noise whatsoever and ran through the thick bush without knocking the fresh snow of one single branch. I'll get him next time though.

Well I`m about to give up. I am now 0 for 4 on coyotes I`ve shot at this year. I took both of my go to coyote rifles to the range today. Shooting at a rock abt. 3 in. in dia. at 211 yrds I was smokeing it 3 to 4 shots out of 5 and fighureing the misses were do to the cross wind I was shooting in. Shot at a rock chip, 1 to 1 1/2 in. in dia., with the .22-6mm, dissaperade the first shot. I think I may trade 2 good shooting guns for a pocket full of rocks.
