Mossberg 500 Slug Barrel

I just found a Mossberg 500 Rifled slug barrel with a cantilever scope mount on Auction Arms for $100.00 and the auction is ending within the next day.

I have never bought a slug barrel, so do you think this is a good deal? or would you buy one directly from the factory?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm really not a big fan of used stuff. What is the price difference between this barrel and a new one? That is the factor I would use in buying a used barrel that I cannot see before spending the money. You never know how much it has been abused.

The seller says that it has only been shot 5 times and all the bluing look good in the pictures. The barrel is also ported. It seems like a good deal...

Again, what is the difference between the cost of the new barrel and this barrel, or what does the new barrel cost because I can do the math and subtract $100 from it.

Just because a seller says that it has only been shot 5 times, doesn't mean that is so. I have put hundreds of rounds through my slug barrels, and sometimes 20 at a time just sighting them in. So, not for a second would I believe that only 5 rounds have been shot through that barrel. It would have probably taken about 5 shots just to sight it in.

Cabelas has that barrel new for $149. I would not buy a used one for only a $49 savings.

my 2 cents.
