Question ATR bases????

I mention the basics of the ATR I zeroed for a friend in my 'Karma' posting. But I need to know what kind of bases the ATR uses. I had to use a set of super-cheapie scope rings to mount his 2-7x 32 Nikon, (they were the rings from the Savage package gun). Real Weaver, and Leupold-Weaver style rings are all too thick to mount a compact scope over the long action. But I want to get him some quality bases and rings. He is a novice hunter, and this is his first scoped rifle.

I tried Friday to reach and contact Mossberg, that was not do-able, I followed the menu options, just to get a buisy signal for a FULL HOUR, plus ten minutes. Can somone find a friend who has a friend that would know somone who may know somone who knows if the Mossberg customer service exist, or is just an imaginary person who can't answer a phone?

Or who may just know what bases go to the ART 100

I still say get the weaver two piece base ($7.97 from wally world this weekend in WEAVER brand) and then look at some rings to fit. Several years back I did the compact scope thing on a rifle and finally found a set of rings to fit my weaver bases at a gun show that the band on was half as long/wide/thick (whichever way you want to say it) as normal rings. Paid around $25 for the rings. The worked great, just can't remember who made them. WIll have to try to remember to dig out the box tonight and look at them for you.

I totally want Weaver bases for him, and rings, but he has a Nikon Pro Staff, 2-7x it has a short tube, I need some extention bases. BUT! I don't know what to get, I have no information from Mossberg to know what numbers to get.

I checked Burris, Weaver and Leupold charts to try and cross reference what set of Weaver bases to buy, but no luck so far. None of them even have the ATR 100 listed yet.

Before you do that contact weaver and ask them. They don't show it on their chart but on the mossberg homepage the picture of the 100 ATR has a two piece weaver base on it! The weaver two piece bases run around $7-$9 plus rings. MUCH better investment IMHO.
