11-14-08 We got hit again today with the blowing snow and ice.
Had a multi car pile-up on I-90 by Rapid City and two of our Sheriffs units got hit while trying to get people to medical help. These stupid motorists just don't slow down. Nobody was serious on the injury side but it was a mess with the State having to close the interstate for a short time because people would not slow down.
We hit good goose hunting in the Pierre area of the Missouri River around the Thanksgiving time. Depends alot on what is going on in Canada.

WOW...

For the first time in almost 2 months..I'm actually getting something other that undecipherable crap ..Maybe the internet people got me fixed. Was on 90 from Sheridan on Wednesday..Clear and fairly warm...Windy. We had a little snow on Thursday night(3 inches) but the weather has been just too warm lately. 50 today and tomorrow. Bout freezing at night...cept where we're hunting elk but it's at 8500 ft. Got cell phone pics of moose at 20 ft...but don't know how to post 'em. Gotta get to bed but will check all the PM's etc tomorrow. Hope it continues to work.

12-12-08 Well sounds like we have a pretty large storm heading our way with bitter cold = like maybe +5 for a high. I can hardly waite as I have to take the kid out and try and get an elk and my black powder season opens and I still have two bow tags to fill.
It should be a very interesting day Saturday to say the least. lol

Nullie I saw on the weather tonite that you guys were head for a snowy deep freeze. Ya can keep those temps and snow out there.

Our muzzell loader season opened today with another 5 or 6 inches of snow comming down in a couple of hours this morning. I think alot of the deer have headed for the deer yards with last weeks weather.

To much snow on the ground for this old duffer to be wallowing around in.

Ditto on the "old duffer" we are going out now and getting the heck out of there and back to the fireplace before the storm hits.

Starting to rain here.

At least the ground underneath the snow is not frozen so it will soak away, I hope!

At least is not supposed to turn into an ice storm according to the weatherman.

We all know they are never wrong.

Well my son and I just got back from "elk walking" and as stated just walking and no elk. We found where they were yesterday but unable to catch up with them. The AM was warm and nice and we had hiked in maybe too far. The temp dropped and we got the heck out of there in some real heavy fog. We are now under a blizzard Warning and we are heading for home to hunker down.
See ya when its over.

Blizzard??

I thought that was something ya got at Dairy Queen. Actually we are in a blizzard right now. The darn skies are dropping some of that white stuff GOB was talkin about..It was 28 degrees at 10 this mornin and now it is 2 above. The wind is roaring.seriously blowing steady at 40 and gusting as high as 60 or so..according to my little anemometer. Gonna be 15 below tonight..

Yeah, went hiking up in the hills south of galena last weekend to get a christmas tree nulle. Still lots of snow up there, knee deep or deeper in the area i was in. Yeah that blizzard suppose to hit us here in the Hills about 4 this afternoon. Pretty strange out right now. Kind of like fog snow. Looks foggy, but when you get out into it, it's really fine snow. I have been working on a huge crock pot of antelope stew and brought in a big pile of wood for the wood stove. Have a couple women friends I know coming over for supper. So all set for the blizzard. Let the cribbage tournament begin! lol

Well back at the computor and the snow missed us but not the cold. We went up looking for elk and walked way back into the Hills. We found where they bedded the night before but were unable to catch up to them and then the storm moved in on us.
Like I said no snow but the last few days have been -12 with wind chills that are off the chart. The old pellet stove was working over time. Leaving this weekend for some pheasant hunting in the Aberdeen area and should have the fields to myself with this weather.

This has been an early cold snowy start for winter for us.
But--Sunday afternoon it was 58 degrees. Then the bottom fell out. With rain sleet and snow--sometimes all at once. It was 8 degrees at 6AM.
Got down to 10 last night now its snowing. Gonna get up to 6" by midnight. Then thursday its supposed to be an inch of ice.
Kind of a copy of last year only earlier but the snow melts before the next system gets to us.
Can't wait to see what happens when winter gets here.
Geeze I got cabin fever already.
have a good one
