Primer situation

This madness may pass soon

I was in a gun shop today that had CCI and Winchester small rifle primers and a limit of 500 primers per customer. I bought 100 primers for $3.79 because that was all I needed right now. The 500 primer limit also applied to small pistol, large pistol and large rifle. They had plenty of 209 shotgun primers and there was no limit. I am hopeful. All the best...

Primers

We had the new Cabela's store in Billings open this week. I went up for the pre opening event. They were selling primers and powder with limits..300 primers and 2 lbs of powder. Primers were ...no joke 4.99 per 100 and powder averaged 25 bucks a lb. They had lots of 223 ammo and ammo for pistol etc but the prices were not cheap by any standards. Best price thy had on Fed 223 was 8.90 per box in quantities of 10 boxes..single boxes were 10.99. A friend asked me to get him some small rifle primers(I don't have any for sale) and I actually got the last 300 they had on the shelf of all the metallic primers. 209s were fairly plentiful. I picked up a Lee Cast Classic press for 80 bucks but I don't know why. Probably sell it at the next gun show. I sold 35,000 primers this weekend. Mostly large rifle and pistol. One guy tried to buy 'em all. I allocated 1000 per person. Sold 'em at 32 bucks per M. Phone range off the hook. Sold some of my shot also as I had 2 ton or so. Prices have come down on shot lately..but look for it to go back up a bit.

At $4.99 for 100 primers, i would hve asked them if stealing little old ladies purses at the super market was their day job.

4.99 is going rate here, if you can get them. The sporting type stores are out. Havn't been to the gun shop. Checked cabelas the other night and they have a 4-5 week backorder. talked to my dad in southern IL. His gun shop is getting $36/1000, plus tax. He picked me up 1000. I'm going there this weekend, and If I have enough extra cash I may get another 1000.

Actually you guys got it cheap and I'd be thrilled to be paying those giveaway prices, heck I could buy twice as much as I do No matter how bad you think you got it you could have it worse.

All depends on where you're at, try powder for over $50 a lb here. One good thing, at our prices there's no such thing as a shortage! You lucky dogs. Waidmannsheil, Dom.

One of my local shops has a good supply of powder at $29. He also gets Federal primers in once in a while, but lately only the Gold Medal Match flavor at $49/1000. His posted price for standards is $29, and he does limit folks to a daily purchase limit of 2000.
