Mosin Nagant
I have just become the owner of a Mosin Nagant. Not familiar with the different variations,but knew I could get properly informed by our esteemed group of collectors. All matching numbers s/n 9937xx. 19-1/2 " barrel with :
New England Westinghouse xxxNY I assume rifle is chambered 7.62 x 54R Thanks for any help you might offer. jplonghunter

Contract rifle from WWI
During WWI, New England Westinghouse and Remington made Model 1891 Mosin Nagant rifles for the Czarist government in Russia. Most never left the U.S. because of the revolution in Russia. Some were used to train U.S. soldiers when we entered WWI. The rifle is a 7.62X54mm. If it has a 19 1/2" barrel, someone cut it down. Hope this helps. All the best...

Thanks for info,this rifle appears to be all original.However after closer inspection it does look like the barrel has been shortened. jplonghunter
