Firearm prices have been spiralling now for quite some time.....including single shots. Check out used prices on the internet for various single shot shotguns....most are running around $100 or so.
As for the Maverick, if I am not mistaken, these are made in China, and are not a Mossberg, but a Mossberg clone. After China put lead paint in our kids toys, poison in our dogs food and treats, and no heparin in vials that were labeled "Heparin", I think I would forgo that "bargain' Maverick for the single shot. ....i.e., I ain't buying anything from China, if I can help it!
