Saturday, I took the Mauser, that Gil Martin helped me acquire, to my smith. He is going to put the .308 tube on the action, and give it a blue bath when he gets enough customers.
A delivery from Boyds showed up today, consisting of a JRS nutmeg laminate stock, and a Bold trigger (preset 3lbs). I think I am going to like this set up. Since I couldn't bring my 98 back from Germany in 2004 (my first return), I thought I would copy it.........well kinda. My old one was 7 x 64, this one gets an American taste, just for ease of finding ammo. I finally decided to top it with Fullfield II, since my Mauser in Germany had a Fillfield on it. 2010.....everything's 'comin up Jon! Well........Not really, but I will take what I can get!

Hope you don`t have to wait as long as I did. I got back a barreled action from the smith monday, but I took it to him a year ago last June, alittle over 19 mo. is a bit much. I`ll be useing someone else from now on. I put a .35 Whelen on mine.

Catfish,
This guy promised 3 weeks! If he took as long as your guy did, I am afraid in mid-operation I would take my stuff from him to a new smith. I am lucky this guy went back in to business, he is more local, the other option was drive to Oklahoma City or Sherman (TX). A bit too far to drive at my leisure. But I am sure it will be an okay, evenly blued, awesome .308 deer thumper!
