It's nice to know that I'm not alone. And even though I didn't get anything as nice as the afore mentioned guns I did just pick up two used shotguns. A like new H&R 12 gauge full choked gun for my live in brother-in-law and an equally nice used Mossberg 500 20 gauge with rib and screw-in chokes.

They were sitting near each other in the rack of one of our nearby shops at a nice enough price my resolve melted away!

You did good

Long as you're happy with what you pay it's a good deal. I went and picked up the 700 Varmint Monday..and today I bought an ol Mossyberg..835 wood stocked gun in the box for 250 bucks. Like I need the sucker. But thought I'd give it to my grandson. He lives in Md and will probably need it for them gooseys. I have also found an old High Standard 22 Semi auto. It's a Field King with 2 bbls. One is about 4 1/2 and the other 6 1/2 inches approx. In pretty good condition. Fellow wants 300 bucks for it. Just what I need....another High Standard. But not having looked it up in the book I know it has be worth a good bit more than $300. I missed a really nice gun..it was a Rem 722 in 257 Roberts. BUT it was a BDL grade with pretty checkered stock.. Kinda rare.

Fabs. I don't keep all the guns I buy. I keep the good ones or the hard to find ones. If I make a bit on what I sell it pays for the other stuff. I've just gone a little wild lately buying some of this stuff. In one of the boxes of stuff I got the other day was an almost complete Auto Ordnance 1911 set up for 38 Super. Even had a new Clark Custom bbl for the 38 Super. If I hadda known..I would have bought all the 38 super ammo and new primed brass at the sale. It went waaayyy cheap. The 700 Varmint is a 6mm and is a gun I will rust blue and have a friend refinish the stock on. I'll recut the pressed in checkering . Then I'll keep it and shoot it.

Skeet, sounds like you've been enjoying yourself as well. The 6mm isn't nearly as popular as it was a number of years ago but it is a very good cartridge. A brother-in-law of mine had a left handed actioned 788 years ago and it was a heck of a shooter. It did fine duty as both his whitetail and chuck rifle for a number of years. (I suppose he'd still have it today if he had married a girl that enjoyed outdoor activities instead of his current wife.......but we all make our choices.)

Enjoy your current projects by the way, sounds like a great way to pass sometime at this time of year!

Projects

Well I have a project I'm doin right now. Momma told me I hadda clean up the vault a little. Course she was right. Finding stuff I've had for 40 yrs. Gotta get rid of some of it. I even found two handguns down there one in a cigar box the other in a blue Whiskey bag. Gonna put 'em back together and sell 'em. Got reloading stuff I'm gonna sell. ammo I have no use for..among other things. Glad there is a gun show coming up soon. Just hope I don't buy more stuff to bring home....but I know I will. Just bought an old Dunbar reloading press...like I need it. But the old stuff is made SO MUCH BETTER than the new. Heck even the junky Herter's stuff from years ago beats the new stuff made in China

BTW I have found I have more than 40 reloading presses of all sorts here...and a few back east yet
