They are definitely less active when it's warm during the day, but first thing in the morning (before sunrise) and just before sunset they get very active. They only have a short time to fatten up before the cold hits so they have to consume a lot of food in a short time. That trail cam shot was taken on one of our warmer days, but them temps drop pretty quick here once the sun starts to go down. Course our weather has been screwy that last couple of years, it's not normally that warm during bear season. And, because they shut down the spring hunt we start the fall hunt in August instead of September like it use to be.

She does have a small white chevron, like most up here, but it's just enough to say she has one. We've come across quite a few up here without the chevron though.
