Adam: i was issued an M1 Garand first, then an M1 carbine when i went to the war in 'Nam, then an M14. i have no use for an M16 for combat in 5.56/.223...gimme the M14.

i am in agreement with you in all you say.

i have a '93 Mauser, 1903 Springfield, savage .308 win. BA and .223 rem single shot for my chosen hunting arms.

Hehehe..... my co-worker hunting buddy one day toted his M1 Garand out hunting, using his 150 grain handloads.
He comes back later saying, "No wonder they went to the M-16! This thing is HEAVY!"


He never served in the military - his number was never called back in the closing days of the VN War....

Like Adam, I prefer the old bolties for hunting. My one .223 rifle is semiauto, but not an AR platform.
