9mm Rounds won't seat

I don't have any problems with my 40 S&W nor my 45 ACP, but these 9mm are driving me nuts. All the cases are trimmed to right length. I am using RCBS dies. I use a case gauge to check the cases for chambering. The problem is that the case heads will not sit flush after loading a bullet and putting a slight crimp on it. All the cases have been "belled" to start the bullet. Any ideas out there? I loaded 10 rounds and 6 will not seat flush into the case gauge.

The first thing I'd do is take your pistol down, and use the barrel as your case gauge.
With the barrel out of the gun, try seating your loaded ammo by just finger pressure- slowly. You'll likely be able to tell what the hang up is.
Case gauges do a really nice job of telling you your ammo is within specs, but it can't really tell you if the ammo will seat in your gun- only the barrel can tell you that.
Check also that your chamber is clean- crud build up at the front of the chamber can prevent seating.
I'm going to assume you're using a die that taper crimps- most 9mm dies do. If you are roll crimping, switch to a taper crimp.
Try that, see what happens, and let us know.

Thanks Jack. I have loaded this round previously and have always had problems with it. I have noticed before that if the round will not fit in the case gauge then it will not cycle through the pistol. (Desert Eagle) Yes, I am using a crimp die on the round. However, I will try your way just to see what happens. Thanks again.

I'm going to assume you're using a die that taper crimps- most 9mm dies do. If you are roll crimping, switch to a taper crimp.

What is your COL? Is the bullet contacting the lands?

Some problems to check, OAL, proper crimp, fouled chamber, bullet material on case mouth. Do use the barrel's chamber as a gauge, out of the gun.

If you are using a taper crimp or profile crimp, the seater should be a seperate die, otherwise you will cut bullet material as the bullet seats and the case mouth is squeezed down. If cast bullets are used, it is imparitive that the seater be seperate or you could get lead / lube buildup in the chamber severe enough to cause a round to fire out of battery.

Are you getting the case FL resized? If your not getting the case sized all of the way down you may have a bulg just above the rim stopping it from chambering.
