Black Powder Bear

Nothing has bit my bait yet. I burnt a few ounces of honey in a beer can yesterday. I hung the can on a wire and then used a propane torch to heat it - I think this is safer as the last thing you want is for the honey to boil over and get into a portable stove (been there, done that).

Got a small black bear with my hawken about 3 weeks ago. At 12 yards I was able to put a 410 gr Buffalo Bullet Conical through the head...

If you think you would like a new rear sight keep in mind as you get older you may need reading glasses. If your rear sight has started to get blury you already do. When figuring out where to put your sight silde it down the barrel until it's no longer fuzzy. This will shorten your sight raidus but give you a better picture. If your sight is already filed in you need to make a brass or silver slug to fill the old dovetail. You will see this on older flintlocks where the owner moved the rear sight forward as they became older. This works better than dealing with a bad sight picture.Good luck.
