Another factor to consider: will the caliber/cartridge you are carrying adequate to penetrate heavy winter clothing.

It depends what you prefer

I usually slip a Smith & Wesson Model 60 with a 2 inch barrel in .38 Special into my back pocket. No one knows it there but me. I have a shoulder holster for a 1911A1 or a 4 inch Model 66. So it depends. All the best...
