I'd guess the ones made in the 90s in New York would be the earliest that would qualify, both the model 37 and 87. The new ones made in Ohio would most definitly would. I shoot two 37s on waterfowl: a 37R I just got 12 ga. 28" full choke, and a 57 16ga. 28 Mod. In the 12 it will be feed with bismuth and Kent Matrix. The 16 gets the same but also steel 2s and 4s. Haven't had any problems with that in the mod. choke, anyway both are going to SW Louisiana Sunday for our annual duck hunt.

I have been told if you have the mod. choke you could shoot steel. Mine is a 1940 full choke of course. Checked on reaming it out and was advised this would not be a good idea and just get another gun or barrel.

Problem being on our older 37s barrels have to be fitted. As I understand thatthe new Ithaca Co. in Oh. will fit a new barrel to your receiver, have no idea of the cost. I think one could proberly buy a lot of safe non tox for what a new fitted barrel would cast.

Other possibility is the Browning BPSm son and grandson both shoot them in the upland versions, one in 12 the other in 16. They sure like them and have not had any problems, but they are heavier than the 37s.

Nulle..Have the bbl reamed to a light modified. It will be ok with steel up to say the size of 2's. How much ya gonna shoot steel in it. You like it and even if you score the choke area a bit it'll still shoot. A full choke really isn't needed that much any more..Also if you really need a different choke..Talk to Briley and ask them if the bbl can be fitted for steel shot choles. Probably about 175 bucks or so but worth it for a gun you really like.

Nulle, I just happen to have an Ithaca Model 37, Featherlight, 12 gauge, 2 3/4 ", marked MOD, that is 28 inches long. It is not new but looks perfect in everyway except no rib. The front bead is the Ray-bar that glows pink. They are listed in munrich for over $200. but I would like to have $100 that iincludes the shipping to you. Or make me an offer. larryjk@tribcsp.com

Nulle, I googled your location. That area looks like a great place to live. We usually stop at the first resturant on the right when we come through Belle Fourche from the south on highway 85. Not fancy, but the food is good and we can get breakfast just before noon. We usually also hit it on the way back from chasing pheasants north of Bismark. I would like to spend an extra day in that area and visit Dakota Arms.

Whenever I can get up there and have a day to spend, you are on. Just don't hold your breath waiting.
