Egg Shoot: I ran across a reference to an egg shoot. Now I can't remember which periodical it was in; not Precision Shooting because I ran over all of the articles on ranges. Anyhow, what they do is use an egg shoot as a side contest for amusement to the 1000 yards shoot. You shoot at an egg suspended by a string at 500 yards. No benches, any position you may choose. It didn't say if sandbags or forend rests were allowable, or if the egg was raw. I assume it would be so a hit would be more obvious.
No prizes ae awaarded; only the applause of fellow shooters and spectators. If I run across the article again, I will post where it occurred. |

"They do something similar at my club only at 110 meters firing at Charcoal brickets suspended on a string. Off hand only. That will humble you.

our club little bit north of bath PA (point phillip's R&G) does this from time to time. we only shoot at 100 yds. yes the egg is raw. its off hand. any caliber except shotguns. seen every thing from 300 wins. to .22lr. last time i was there saw a guy do it with a .17hmr and a guy with a tc encore muzzleloader. no real big prize money 2$ to enter winner takes all. so you may get $50! i do enjoy seeing ppl with really tricked out weapons come to find out they arent as good as that rifle is on the bags. (me you ask? not even gonna waste the two bucks

What we do is buy plastic Easter eggs, and fill them with flour..Instant signature for all to see when egg is hit. Mono wire is hot glued to the egg and hung, or balance on wire stands
