Vaquero for ccw?
I have taken note that Ruger makes a distributor exclusive 45lc 3.75" vaquero sold through Davidson's. It has the standard grip frame, but it LOOKS to be one of the newer 3/4 frame vaqueros (I may be mistaken on this) IF the grip frame were exchanged for a birdshead gripframe what is your opinion of this as a ccw revolver? Myself I am VERY curious and think it would probably work well, BUT I am not positive.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't, but I can think of a few reasons why I wouldn't want to carry a single action revolver for CCW. The first is probably the obvious...having to cock the firearm manually each time to fire. That's a handicap that I don't think I want to give an opponent in a firefight, even if he is similarly armed. The second reason is the impression it will give to said prosecuter if I am in said firefight...the illusion that I am a 'cowboy' looking for a 'gunfight at the O.K. corral'. Probably not an issue in Texas (hell, probably a REQUIREMENT!), but here in liberal Michigan you can bet it will be used to paint as negative a picture as possible.
Now, having said that, I do open carry while hunting/fishing with my .357 Vaquero....I like the gun, it draws easy from a hip holster, and (don't tell anyone this...not even my wife!), I've always wanted to be a cowboy since I was 5 years old....even got the hat and boots and everything! Finally, I think you might have some trouble finding concealment leather for a single action, colt style revolver....but I can't say for certain; I haven't looked.

I agree there may be issues with finding an off the shelf holster, however there are a few great holster makers around Texas and I am certain SOMEBODY has to be making them. I agree single action may not be the fastest to fire, or to reload, but it IS a hardy gun, and in 45 colt even old cowboy lead would be good medicine if you should need it....
Still thinking it over. GoodOlBoy

What I think of is that big hammer spur hanging up on clothing when you try to draw it. . . .
