NID was made after 1925 and was a stronger frame than the earlier ones with a stronger lock up..previous to these were the original style frames with design changes by 4 or 5 designers.. Flues Lewis Crass and another I don't remember the name of..They were serialed under 400,000 or so. Mostly they were just prettied up versions if I remember right..Been a long time. I have a NID grade 4E which is very rare. Pretty gun but I really don't see the big deal. I liked the Win 21s better..Parkers too. Not much of a double gun guy.. Although I have a few. Fox guns are nice too. I had an earlier Flues 20 ga double and it was nice and light but couldn't take the amount of shooting I did..so sold it. Double gun journal may be the place to find the info you need
