Like I told a cop one time after he checked my concealed permit. He asked why I carried a gun. My answer was because I can. I have pretty much traded the knife for a multi tool. I have one with me 85% of the time.

I have carried a "Old Timer" three blade pocket knife all my life. There was almost every day it was needed to cut something. I can remember the teacher asking me to borrow my pocket knifel to cut something. This is about a 3 1/2 inch model. My son now carries one but not as religiously because he was prohibited by the school system in his "formative years". Now he hates to ask me for mine if he has forgotten his. However, if someone was to come at me with a knife, I would shoot them without warning.

When hunting for obvious reasons. When not hunting, as others have said, because I may need it to cut something. My usual "carry" pocket knife is a case boy-scout type knife that my wife gave me after we were first married (about 35 yrs. ago). It has other type blades, including a screwdriver blade, which come in handy for other stuff too.

Well, I've carried a knife almost dailey since I was 10. Depends on what I'm think I might be doing on that particular day, 90% of the time it is a simple single blade folding knife, size depend on how I'm dressed. At times I wear a multi-tool as I made something to use for a small repair and away from vehicle. Usually if wearing a vest it will have a small sheath knife tucked away someplace. I try to keep my knives razor sharp, nothing more dangerous than a dull knife. Someday I should take an inventory of my knives.
