Gun Collection Preservation
For guns in long-term vault storage, I have a system that works for me. Some gun magazines suggest vault guns be cleaned and lightly oiled for vault storage. The problem there is that oil migrates down due to gravity (assuming butt-down placement) and oil is not for long term storage protection.
Long ago I put clean guns into storage after applying Rig Gun Grease in the bores and on exterior metal. I keep dessicant bags in the vault and recharge them in the oven when the indicator discs go from blue to pink. I have a few tins of Military Spec Rifle grease that works better than RIG. I last regreased a few arms in 2007 and yesterday they got a redo. All arms were fine and it was good to get reacquainted with historic collectables. Bottom line: use gun grease to protect stored arms against rust and corrosion. Same goes for bayonets. Adam

Gun grease works
I have military arms that were greased with Rust Inhibiting Grease (RIG) and not handled for twenty years that are still in pristine condition. Grease is the way to go for long term firearm storage. All the best...
