My Half-faced Camp is under construction.
I once saw a Currier & Ives print of a snowy hunting camp in the big woods nearby. A few old time flintlock hunters were standing near a lean-to sort of structure adjacent to a campfire. A deer hung on a meat pole in the background while capote-clad hunters stood about the campfire.
Today, loyal hound and I drove our Polaris Ranger loaded with gear into the 10-acre West woods adjoining a 969-acre Water Company woods here in Northcentral PA. I found two 8-inch trees about twelve feet apart as the front of my camp. I used the chainsaw to cut poles and have two runners going back fifteen feet to the ground at the rear of my shelter. The front is eight feet high and slopes back to the ground. I cut two cross pieces for the roof and need to cut more. I also need to dig a fire pit in front and put wood nearby. I have a 12 foot X 18 foot camo tarp for the roof. I will try to get some pictures to post. I plan to hunt out of my camp for October deer with my flintlock. Adam
