Any one have a set of target grips for a M28 S&W Highway Patrolman...SB. Want factory OS..............
No rush, I've only been going to get around to this for 40+years.

Dan,

Are you looking for factory grips? My First Law Enforcement Duty arm was a 4-inch M-28, now in Vault #1. I attended S&W Armorer's School twice in the 1980s and was freely given all the N-frame grips I could carry away.

Just what grips are you seeking?

Adam

Factory over sized for the early N frame square butt..............duty guns,
to my knowledge, came in the small and large...small allowed lower fingers
to wrap around behind trigger guard.....'large' were for some of us smaller fingered critters. Hope I explained it rite................my M19 has what I call
the large target grip.

Dan,

My M28 is akin to yours in serial # range. This is a busy time of year; today we planted 200 feet of row of potatoes and 100 feet of white onions and 100 feet of red onions.

Send me a PM with your mailing address and watch your mailbox. I will get into my shed and look for the oversize N-Frame grips. I know they are there, somewhere. These are S&W Factory larger grips than what came standard on my M28 and I like them better. Do you prefer a lighter color or a darker walnut color?

Again, watch your mailbox.

Adam

Dan,

I read your PM to me before I read this recent post. You owe me nothing. I have fond memories of Lakewood, While stationed at Lowry AFB in 1963-1965, I had a girlfriend on Balsam Avenue who owned a 1961 or 1962 Edsel convertible.

I will send the grips the same day I locate them. Be well.

Dan,

A new pair of smooth N Frame grips were mailed at noon today to you. I have given away many sets of grips since I acquired same in 1982. My "Heap" has grown smaller along the way and that is ok.

Good health and good shooting.

Adam, received grips this morning. Good fit and looks good on the ole warhorse pistol. As soon a water goes down, I'll make a range trip. Again, my sincere thanks for the grips and note.
Dan

Funny, it takes a letter 4 days to go across town and I get these in 1 1/2 days from Pa.........

I too have a really nice first year Highway Patrolman..6 inch gun..Have had it and a mate almost as long in 4 inch. But it is a 1957 made so is an actual 28..no dash. The 4 inch has a set of Mershon grips(predecessor to Pachmayr) and the 6 inch has a set of Pachmayr presentation. I look for Magna grips at all gun shows as the early guns usually didn't come with target grips. One day I will find them. The 28s are revolvers I will never sell. They are some of the most accurate handguns I own. I happen to have 3 Highway patrolman one is as new in the box and is also a 4 inch gun. For some reason I have quite a few S&Ws. Most are the N frames too. I recently bought a Model 17(K 22 made in 1957) and a Model 14(K 38made in 1969). The K-38 I have been shooting a bit. If I keep going the way I am I will wear out the 5 gallon bucket of 38 Special ammo I loaded a few years back. When I loaded it I figured I had a lifetime supply..Doesn't look that way now. When 22 ammo comes back in good supply I will shoot the K-22 more..if it ever does get better on 22 ammo availability. Sorry for not posting much lately. Doctors and hospitals and bad phone lines.
