A gift rifle

My neighbor gave me a Weatherby Vanguard 7MM Rem. mag., that his father gave him in 1975. He no longer hunts and wanted me to have it. The rifle is absolutely beautiful and has a Leupold 4X-12X scope on it in Redfield rings. I took the rifle apart and cleaned it. The only problem is that someone used locktite on the scope ring screws and I had a hard time getting them out. I plan to shoot this rifle and am thrilled to have it. What a birthday gift! All the best...

Gil,

Happy Birthday. You got a suitable gift in that rifle. Just be sure to resize fired cases to the shoulder and not the belt on a 7MM RM. For difficult loc-tite screws, mild heat from a hair dryer eased my hard cases in the past.
